Rave Jesus Dallas Concert reviews
Well produced performance that felt flat
MØ's opening act was not appealing at all. Her engagement with the audience is monotonic and she didn't have a strong stage presence. The song choices and order undersell her musical abilities.
The show by the band is well orchestrated. Dan sang amazingly and the arrangements are generally good. Loved the acoustic middle. But I found the dynamics of the music to be quite flat. I was just bombarded with similar arrangement styles that gets somewhat boring. Particularly after the acoustic section and even when they were playing the landmark songs.
I do appreciate the theme of the concert, as it is a very important message for us all right now. The way live video was used was fantastic. But the pre-recorded videos were not engaging. I am not a fan of the gender stereotypes used in them. Same for Rave Jesus's words. I almost felt like I was in an evangelical church at times, and that definitely killed the mood for me.
Overall, it was a fine concert. But the delivery is not as appealing as it could have been. Having a quiet piano intro to Radioactive was somewhat surprising. It was fundamentally intro - loud original instead of a more organic blend. The same happened to another song too.
